Question: What is the purpose of this
website?
Answer: This site is designed to deliver a
science fiction role playing game system called The Artifact.
Question: What is The Artifact?
Answer: The Artifact is several things. One,
The Artifact is a game. A science fiction role-playing game. The game starts
out with a one hundred and fifty six page book that is available for
download to members. Two, The Artifact (in the game) is a enormous
manufactured planetoid that has only been recently discovered (in 2085). It
is both dangerous and full of promise, it is populated by people that are
familiar, but full of mystery. Third, The Artifact is a puzzle, do you have
all the pieces? Does the puzzle have a solution?
Question: What is Store 32?
Answer: Store 32 brings you The Artifact, and
looks forward to many more titles published electronically on the Internet.

Question: What is a Role Playing Game?
Answer: A Role Playing Game (or RPG) is a game
in which the players take part in an unfurling story. Each player assumes
the role of a character. In The Artifact, all players but one creates a
character to play. Players improvise the story attempting to reach their
desired outcome. There are two arbiters in The Artifact. One, the book. It
gives rules, guidelines and background information necessary for a smooth
game. Two, a player called the Game Master or GM who interprets the rules
and creates the specifics in the game. Something like the legislative and
judicial branches of the government, they work together, but have different
functions.
Question: How do I submit material to be
included in the game?
Answer: Download the Submission Form text file
from the download page, and fill out applicable fields. View or download the
instruction sheet and review the conditions for submission. Email your
submission to
submissions@theartifact.net by attachment or by pasting the text into
the body of the email. Your submission will be assessed and if accepted the
submission may be edited and then posted.
Question: Can I create my own Artifact
material and distribute it on the web?
Answer: No, not on a website other than this
one anyway. Distribution of any written material or software that uses a
Store 32 trademark, Store 32 worlds, or rules from the games or copies of
Store 32 copywritten books in whole or in part is illegal and may be subject
to prosecution if not approved by us. Members may submit their original
materials to Store 32 via specified methods and have them approved for
distribution to other members. You are allowed to create materials based on
Store 32 copywritten works for your own use as long as it is not distributed
in any way. If you feel you have a special case, or something really
special, contact us at
submissions@theartifact.net describing what you would like to do.
Question: What is a GM allowed to do in
terms of creating new material (people, vehicles, equipment, environments,
etc)?
Answer: As a Game Master, you have the ability
to create and modify any aspects of the game as you see fit. You can modify
existing rules or create new ones to make your games run more smoothly.
